Yang Ji An

Ji An began his journey with the Erhu in the Raffles Institution Chinese Orchestra, where he was appointed bowed strings sectional leader. Under the tutelege of SCO Erhu musician Shen Qin, Ji An successfully auditioned into the Singapore National Youth Chinese Orchestra (SNYCO) as principal Erhu musician in 2013, and in the same year obtained a diploma in Erhu performance in 2013 jointly awarded by the Central Conservatory of Music and the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.

A highly versatile and sought after musician, Ji An has shared the stage with dozens of orchestras and groups of varying sizes, ranging from intimate solo performances to the 2014 Our People Our Music mega orchestra of over 5000 participants. To date, Ji An has performed in over 60 concerts in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, and the United States.

Ji An is currently active in the Raffles Alumni Chinese Orchestra, serving in both musical and executive leadership roles since its inaugural concert in 2010. He also performs regularly with the SNYCO Alumni Collective, and occasionally as an invited guest musician for several local community orchestras. Ji An has been with Stringanza since 2016.
